My sister painted these on my kitchen tiles. They're taken from a Russian kid's book of tales by Pushkin. Pushkin is revered by Russians in the same way Shakespeare is by the English-speaking world. Even growing up in Australia, we all recited Pushkin, performed Pushkin, and had special cultural days in his honour.
If you'd like to see more of the tiles, have a look at my Flickr set
Very playful! Nice artistic talent that your sister shared, too! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, your family clearly has its creative members too! Is your sister a professional artist? She should be if she isn't.
ReplyDeleteYes, my sister has talent. She teaches art at Thomastown by day (mild mannered...) and on Saturdays and Mondays she creates art in her studio above Vibe in Smith St Collingwood. She has been painting abstract for years, and has recently started to do 3D stuff.
ReplyDeleteSome of my family inherited some creativity. I appreciate creativity but don't create. My grandmother's cousin was a well-known pianist in Russia (died recently) - Sviatoslav Richter.
Musical and artistic talent are unpredictable traits and can pop up in families at random - but there are other forms of creativity and you Tania, are an ideas person and a wordwright -this is your creative talent! Fortunately, judging from the amount of people who read your blogs, there are lots of us out here who benefit and appreciate your creativity.
ReplyDeleteYou are too, too nice, Pam.
