Day 238 - Namesday

16 yo's Namesday today (St Maximus the Confessor), and the immediate family came together for the evening meal. Joy! My mother made vegetarian lasagna (with bocconcini and marinated feta), chicken and veal schnitzels (Namesday boy's request) and also bought vegan pasties from a Swiss bakery. Not to mention flan (pictured) and baclava-like sweets (Lebanese, not Greek). 19yo made cinnamon and raspberry muffins. All I made was rice and salad. AND we have leftovers. Can't ask for much more than that. 16 yo's presents consisted of (predictably) music CDs, a giant milk chocolate peppermint frog from Haighs and a 3D chunky wooden noughts and crosses game from Oxfam. Our dog's always happy when people come over; I'm sure I can see her smiling, and she has a little skip in her step.

  1. Congratulations on your son's Name Day - in Greek, Na Zeisis - May he live and Chronia Polla - Many years! Australian Orthodox kids are lucky - their birthdays AND Namedays are celebrated.
